Ahh the Linn LM-1...a thing of beauty! (even if it is a youngster, compared with my Korg Donca-Matic)

Don't DO that! I very nearly hit the "buy it now" button before I read the fine print and saw that you only get a CD-R of LM-1 samples for your $20. Damn!

I'm not saying you're going to do this, but if you were to happen upon a vault somewhere where one was stored and you happened to leave with it, I can give you my address so you can drop it off on your way home. This is of course purely hypothetical.

Uterly awesome, obscure samplings from an obscure and expensive machine. Thank you Stanley!

You're welcome! It took me quite a while to find these online a few years ago.

There's a program called Nostalgia that has samples of various old-school drum machines:

http://www.zero-g.co.uk/index.cfm?articleid=916

It's about $30 less through Audiomidi.com.

I read somewhere that Prince would detune the samples to get the drum sounds on When Doves Cry, 1999, etc.

I just noticed that a lot of the same samples are here for free:

Yes, detuned and flanged. He would also double the bass (guitar) tracks to get that weird bubbley sound.

Thanks for the links!
